Make The Arc a Part of Your Legacy

Walt Slater's gift allowed him to create a legacy that reflected his values and extended his support of The Arc SF.
At some point in a life well spent, we may consider the future and think about how the fruits of our labor can continue to help others. Our Heart of The Arc Society ensures that donors like Walt Slater have a path to making a planned gift that changes lives.
Walt was a vocal advocate for people with developmental disabilities, a visionary who saw the potential of his daughter Anne and others with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and worked tirelessly to create more opportunities for this population.
A World War II veteran who was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart, Walt believed deeply in service and assumed leadership roles at The Arc SF and other advocacy organizations throughout the Bay Area.
Walt believed that everyone deserves an independent life and championed more housing, employment and support for all clients of The Arc. In his planned gift to The Arc, he created a lasting legacy to reflect his lifelong values of self-determination, compassion, tolerance and civic mindedness.
