Making The Arc SF Part of Their Giving Plan

John and Rick

“While considering a request for support of The Arc’s strategic goals, we started to think about including The Arc SF in our estate plans.”

John and Rick decided to include The Arc SF in their estate plans last year as part of their response to a request from the Arc SF's Executive Director to support The Arc's strategic goals with a multi-year donation.

They were already making some decisions as John contemplated retirement and their priorities for the next chapter of their lives. John and Rick decided to establish a "Giving Plan" as part of their estate planning and joined The Arc SF's Heart of The Arc Society.

John has a long history of giving and volunteering with The Arc SF. He joined the Board of Directors in 2015, after attending Arc breakfasts for many years with Salesforce colleagues and becoming an Arc Angel in 2008. John also worked with many Arc participants over the years who were employed at Salesforce, a company whose long-time partnership with The Arc SF has grown to more than 20 participants working at their offices.

As a new member of the Board, he joined The Arc SF’s Finance Committee and immediately became involved in The Arc’s strategic planning and investment priorities, desire to increase staff wages, and funding of exciting strategic initiatives. Over the years, he was part of the leadership of The Arc’s fundraising including the Pacesetters Initiative and the Arc’s Annual Breakfast, as well as serving on the Executive Committee of The Arc’s Board of Directors. These experiences made John a passionate advocate for people with developmental disabilities.

John commented, “Being a part of the Arc family for so many years, Rick and I have seen first-hand how The Arc SF provides such a positive impact on the Arc participants in so many critical areas, whether for education goals, wellness, residential services or employment opportunities. We are excited to further help sustain and enable the Arc to thrive in the years ahead.”

Life changes combined with a desire to support charities that are meaningful often provide the opportunity to create an impactful legacy. The Arc SF thanks John and Rick for their Legacy support.
